Midsize Aura Sedan Expands Lineup for 2009 Model Year (Visit this link)
The five-passenger, front-wheel drive Aura now provides buyers with the availability of four trim lines and three engine choices, two of which achieve an EPA fuel economy average of 33 mpg or better. One of the new trim lines added to the lineup this year is the Aura XR 2.4-liter I-4 engine. Generating 169 horsepower and 160 lbs.-ft. torque and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel, the Aura XR has an EPA fuel economy average of 22 mpg city, 33 mpg highway using regular unleaded fuel. For those looking for added fuel economy, the '09 Aura is also available in a hybrid version with a base price starting at $25,580. The electric motors, which combine with the I-4 gas engine, deliver an EPA fuel economy rating of 26 mpg city, 34 mpg highway while generating a combined 164 horsepower. For this review, I drove the Aura XR I-4 during a one-week period. I was very pleased with both performance and handling. To be fair, I have not driven the V-6. That said, I was so impressed with the I-4 I'm having a hard time understanding the need for the additional 88 horsepower — especially when you factor in the fuel savings.
