Sales of the new Spring Hill-produced Vue sport utility vehicle helped Saturn show an overall March sales gain over last year, although sales of its other two model lines were down from 2001.

New products helped boost sales in August for Saturn, figures released yesterday show.

Saturn's November sales rose 16.9% to 20,754 units, up from 17,070 last year. Year-to-date sales for Saturn totalled 259,571, up 5.0% from this time last year when retailers sold 247,233 cars.

Even though GM's November sales fell 11% from year ago levels, Saturn's sales increased 12%.

Saturn's S-series sedan, which is assembled in Spring Hill, TN, posted sales of 18,675, a 45% increase over last year's October figures. Sales of the Saturn L-series, which is made in Wilmington, DE, were up 90.3% over last year.

The Reynolds and Reynolds company was recently selected by General Motors to supply an Integrated Dealer Management System (IDMS) to all Saturn retailers in the U.S. As part of a multi-year agreement, Reynolds will convert GM's approximately 440 Saturn retailers from the existing ADP dealer management system to the Reynolds IDMS.
