GM Brings Back Second Shift at Outlook Plant (Visit this link)

Melissa Domsic from the Lansing State Journal: Hundreds of idled General Motors workers will be back on the line at the Lansing Delta Township plant by the end of summer. GM said Friday that 900 laid-off union workers will return to their jobs at the assembly plant by the end of August when a second shift is brought back. They will be part of a second shift that is being restarted after it was dropped in March. At the time, 1,100 workers were laid off. Local GM spokeswoman Heidi Magyar said solid sales of the three crossovers made at the plant - the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook - and the expected addition later this year of the Chevrolet Traverse sister crossover to the Delta lineup also prompted the recall. GM said earlier this month when it filed for bankruptcy that it planned to halt production of the Traverse in Spring Hill, Tennessee, in November and shift it to the Delta plant.
