Popular European Car Comes to America as a Saturn (Visit this link)

As for safety, Astra is right up there with some higher priced vehicles. There is a dual frontal "passenger sensing" air bag system, head curtain side air bags (front and rear), side-impact air bags for the driver and front passenger, active front head restraints, and all seating positions have three-point restraint systems. There are also three tethers in the rear seat area for child safety seats. Since tire pressure is also a factor in driving safety and fuel economy, there is a tire-pressure monitor. And there are rain-sensing windshield wipers (in case you don’t happen to notice that you can’t see through the rain-streaked glass), rear-window wiper and washer, projector-beam fog lamps, daytime running lamps and automatic headlamps. One of the best features, especially for women, is the Astra’s standard OnStar system. Having OnStar is like having a guardian angel you can actually communicate with. There are two levels of service, the Safe & Sound Plan and the Directions & Connections Plan. Saturn dealers can give you more detailed information, but here are the basics: S&S includes turn-by-turn navigation instructions, roadside assistance, remote vehicle diagnostics, remote door unlocking, stolen-vehicle location assistance, fuel station (restaurant and other convenience services) location, and remote horn and lights. The D&C Plan includes all the S&S services in addition to driving directions from an OnStar advisor (which can be recorded), phone number download for businesses or other points of interest and ride assist if you need a lift, any time of the day or night. Automatic crash notification relays your location in the event of air bag deployment, even if you are unable to respond to the advisor. And of course, you will get a window sticker with the number to call, in case you lock your purse/wallet containing your OnStar information in the car.
