Quality Products Drive Comeback, GM Exec Says (Visit this link)
One of the biggest challenges General Motors faces is convincing people that it makes vehicles that are worth buying, one of the auto giant's top executives says. Bob Lutz, GM's vice chairman, said the company has made substantial progress in that area, and that has been the linchpin of its turnaround strategy. "We've solved one problem: the one in which the media says that GM makes cars and trucks that people don't want to buy," he said. Vehicles such as the Buick Enclave, Saturn Aura and Pontiac Solstice have shown skeptical consumers — and the media — that GM can turn out high-quality, desirable products, Lutz said. "There's been a continual onslaught of great new products that everybody loves. Every one of those products inevitably helps change the perception."
