GM Beats Industry Average in 2001 J.D. Power Study GM scored an average of 146 problems per 100 cars, better than Ford or Chrysler which both scored below the industry average of 147. Lincoln Dealers Win Top Rating A Detroit automaker reclaimed top honors in J.D. Power and Associates' 2004 survey of customer satisfaction with dealer service as Ford's Lincoln brand drew the highest score for the first time ever. Toyota's Lexus Leads Quality Survey Lexus topped all brands, recording 85 problems per 100 vehicles. The industry average was 147. Saturn was listed with 139 problems per 100 vehicles, a score that put them between Honda and Audi.
