Car stereo cassette playes need to be cleaned just like any other cassette system. Using a cleaning tape, such as Alsop, will do the trick.

Officially, Saturn will recommend that you do not install aftermarket electronics of any kind. This is generally universal of all auto manufacturers. At the minimum, you should probably wait until the 30-day guarantee has expired before adding anything.

Generic car audio questions, such as "which speaker will sound best in my Saturn," or "how do I hook up my amp to my speakers with special cables" are best answered by your local friendly car audio store or on the rec.audio.car newsgroup.

This pertains to pre-1996 Saturns. Again, Saturn used something that isn't quite standard for GM. The radio Saturn uses is a standard size (width and height) for GM, which is close to a double DIN opening.

Crutchfield is a good place to start for general information. They also will provide detailed help if you purchase a system from them. There are also a few other places for parts and information, especially regarding subwoofer design.

This tip was passed on to me awhile back for another GM car, but applies to Saturns that were equipped with the radios that came with the 1991-94 cars.

The rear deck speaker setup has changed slightly from the first generation sedans. Gone are the rear deck grilles, which allowed easy replacement in the very early models.

Removing the door and rear speakers is easy. You'll need a Torx type screwdriver, preferably a Torx bit set and a universal handle.
