Vic Kolenc from the El Paso Times: Gerhard Mueller doesn't mince words when he speaks about his beloved Saturn and its relationship with General Motors. "There was a very strong political faction (within GM) that didn't like (Saturn) and sabotaged it from the beginning," said Mueller, owner of the Saturn dealerships in El Paso and Las Cruces. Penske Automotive Group, a publicly traded company with 310 automotive franchises with 40 brands, announced on Friday that it signed a memo of understanding with General Motors to buy the Saturn brand and the right to distribute vehicles through more than 350 Saturn dealerships. The Detroit-area company is headed by the race car team owner Roger Penske. The deal is expected to be completed within the next three months.
