Magna Is Said to Join Suitors for Saturn (Visit this link)
Katie Merx and Jeff Green from Bloomberg: Magna International, Canada's largest auto-parts supplier, is in talks with General Motors about acquiring the Saturn brand as the automaker shrinks operations, people familiar with the discussions said. Magna hasn't made a bid under GM's June 1 deadline to accept offers, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified because negotiations are private. The partsmaker, which also is vying for GM’s Opel in Europe, is studying who might be named to run Saturn, the person said. The talks expand the pool of Saturn suitors as GM works to shed half of its eight U.S. brands. Penske Automotive Group and private-equity firm Black Oak Partners have said they’re interested, while Nissan Mmay team with Penske to make and sell Saturns, people familiar with that effort have said.
