No Downtime for Delta Plant (Visit this link)

Barbara Wieland from the Lansing State Journal: General Motors' Lansing Delta Township facility is the automaker's only U.S. assembly plant to escape summer production cuts. The popularity of vehicles made in Lansing protected the plant from production cuts, said Brian Fredline, president of United Auto Workers Local 602. The local represents workers at Lansing Delta Township, where the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook are made. "The marketplace is still responsive to the products we make," Fredline said. The struggling automaker said Thursday it is slashing production by 190,000 vehicles in the second quarter and early third quarter this year. The cutbacks are needed to thin bloated inventories and bring production in line with slow consumer demand, the automaker said. GM has 22 assembly plants in North America.
