Saturn Reatilers to Evolve, Survive (Visit this link)

Alex Gary from BusinessRockford.com: George Schaffner, general manager of Saturn of Rockford, can't wait to launch an ad campaign around the slogan "A different kind of car company — again." Saturn was launched in 1985 by General Motors Corp. as a separate company — separate business model, separate manufacturing and a separate dealer network — to take on the German and Japanese small cars that were beginning to gobble up market share in the U.S. But in 2000, GM started bringing Saturn into the fold, producing Saturn vehicles along with its other offerings. This week, reports surfaced that a cost-cutting GM will either sell or discontinue its Saturn products and is working with Saturn to spin off the brand’s distribution network.
