General Motors Makes Move to Spin Off Saturn Line (Visit this link)
David Young from the Fort Collins Coloradoan: As the major car manufacturers struggle to keep their factories open in the deepening recession, General Motors' latest move to make a profit involves cutting its Saturn brands. The phaseout of Saturn dealers is scheduled for 2011, but according to a letter to Saturn dealers, GM will consider offers by other investors or dealers to buy the franchises. Belisle said GM is attempting to reorganize Saturn, which shares assembly lines with other GM products. He said GM is trying to keep Saturn intact by selling it to potential investors, including some overseas, or letting Saturn dealers themselves come together and build cars to distribute through Saturn dealerships.
