Opinion: Make Saturn a Technology Leader (Visit this link)

David F. Vogl in a letter to Automotive News: Saturn should become GM's technology leader. Make "Saturn" synonymous with "innovation." Give the Astra a clean-burning turbodiesel engine and make that same turbodiesel standard on the Aura and the Vue, with the current Two Mode gas-electric hybrid powertrain as an option. The Outlook would be sold only as high-torque diesel-electric hybrid. The Sky would be a plug-in electric with a 50-mile range and a backup generator — for less than $30,000. And when GM is finally ready to bring a fuel cell vehicle to market, GM should make certain it wears the Saturn badge. Saturn built a following with cars that were different. Just think what it could do with cars that were better — better for the environment and flat-out better than anything else GM has to offer today.
