January Sales Down SaturnFans.com February 1, 2007 Saturn sales fell 22% in January to 13,705 due to falling demand for the brand's bread-and-butter models: the Ion small cars and Vue sport-utility. Sales for both the Ion and Vue will likely continue to taper off for the first part of this year as car buyers wait for new versions of both models to arrive later this year. Ion sales were down a surprising 66% to 3,150 units. The Ion's replacement, the 2008 Saturn Astra, will be unveiled next week at the Chicago Auto Show. Likewise, Vue sales were off by nearly 40% to 4,672 units. The 2008 Saturn Vue was unveiled last November at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show; it is expected to be available later this spring. Sales of the Saturn Relay, whose production ended in December, totaled only 139 units (down nearly 77%). On the plus side, Saturn retailers sold 944 Outlook crossover sport-utility vehicles and 698 Sky roadsters. Aura sales totaled 4,102 last month.
