Jill Lajdziak's Role as Saturn Leader Redefined SaturnFans.com March 2, 2004 As Saturn continues to evolve, so do the roles and responsibilities of its workers and management officials. The latest change to cause a stir within the Saturn community surrounded Jill Lajdziak, who most recently held the title of Saturn Vice President of Sales, Service, and Marketing (see previous SaturnFans.com story "Lajdziak Reassigned?"). As part of a realignment of resources within Saturn and General Motors, that particular title has been dissolved. Saturn's sales, service, and marketing field organization had reported directly to her, but that group has been moved under a separate GM-wide vehicle sales, service, and marketing organization. Lajdziak is still the head of Saturn, but her role has been redefined within the Saturn organization. Saturn spokeswoman Sherrie Childers Arb says that Lajdziak's new title, General Manager Saturn, better "reflects her role as the leader of the Saturn brand." The new title is also now consistent with the leaders of other GM brands, like Cadillac and Chevrolet. However with the change, sources say Saturn no longer has a seat on the GM Executive Board. Lajdziak's focus is on overseeing the growth of Saturn and its product lines. In addition, her responsibilities include Saturn brand and product development, marketing/advertising, and ensuring that the brand properly integrates with the field organization to implement programs.
