November Sales Up 16.9% SaturnFans.com December 3, 2002 Saturn's November sales rose 16.9% to 20,754 units, up from 17,070 last year. Year-to-date sales for Saturn totalled 259,571, up 5.0% from this time last year when retailers sold 247,233 cars. Sales were lifted by the Vue, which is in its second year of production. Saturn sold 9,482 Vues last month; a total of 66,173 Vues have been delivered since the beginning of this year. Interestingly enough, sales of the discontinued S-Series cars were actually higher than the 2003 L-Series sedan and wagon Saturn restyled last summer. Saturn sold 4,577 S cars in November 2002 versus 10,853 last year, down 59.5%. L-Series sales fell 34.6% to 4,230; 6,217 sold last year. General Motors dealers sold 309,263 new cars and trucks in November in the United States, down 18 percent versus November 2001. GM's overall truck sales (171,862) were down 26 percent; car sales (137,401) were down 6 percent. "Comparisons to a very strong year-ago November are difficult, however, our sales remain generally healthy," said Bill Lovejoy, group vice president of North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. "Importantly, we continue to improve our vehicle mix in an extremely competitive market. Heading into the last month of the year, GM's truck sales continue on pace to set the all-time industry record. In addition, we continue to generate strong sales with our new vehicle introductions for Cadillac, HUMMER and Saturn."
