Ion Red Line Ad Creates Buzz
April 4, 2004

Saturn made quite a buzz among Saturn fans last week as the first print ads for the new Ion Red Lines surfaced in car magazines like AutoWeek, Car & Driver, and Motor Trend. The two page ad includes Saturn's new tag line with a clever play on the words "people first" in the text of the ad. This particular ad is has a guy standing in front of a work bench, tools, and engine parts. Above him black and grey letters is the phrase "The Chose His Car Over His Girlfriend Guy." On the right page is picture of the right front of a black Ion Red Line. The angle of the photo makes the car look very aggressive. The text underneath the Ion reads: "The 205-horsepower Saturn Ion Red Line. Supercharged 205-hp engine. RECARO Sport Seats. 17" forged alloy wheels. Optional on a girlfriend, standard on the Ion Red Line quad coupe. Putting people first doesn't mean putting cars second."

The reaction from Saturn fans was quite positive. "I think the last line of that Ion ad is the most brilliant message Saturn can send to the public! Exactly what needs to be said and proved," said SaturnFans.com member Swizelman45. "I thought it was a great ad...one of Saturn's best... it's appealing to the tuner crowd which is good," said KrgIon03, another SaturnFans.com member.

You can view the left and right pages of the ad online. For more Saturn fans reactions to the ad, be sure to visit the SaturnFans.com message board. Also, don't forget to express your opinion of the ads by voting in this week's Question of the Week.
