Saturn shipped its first production Ion sedans this past Monday, September 30th, from the Spring Hill manufacturing complex. The first shipments are going by rail to retailers farthest away from Tennessee. The next group will be shipped by truck to other retailers. Saturn hopes the Ions arrive at all retail facilities at about the same time. Insiders say they could start appearing as early as later this week.

A recent article in the Tennessean said between September 1st and September 28th, production at Spring Hill was up 35% compared to the same period last year. Automotive News reported that Saturn built 2161 Ions during that period.
