Saturn Prices Ion to Attract Young Buyers
September 17, 2002

The Saturn Ion sedan will come to market with a highly competitive $11,995 base manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP), including destination and freight charges. It will be offered in trim levels 1, 2 and 3, each with standard features listed below. Production of the all-new Ion begins this month in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

The Ion is fun to drive, with segment-leading standard horsepower, sporty handling and innovative technology such as personal accents and a center-mounted instrument cluster. Popularly-equipped sedans will range from $14,225 to $16,475, depending on trim level. All MSRPs quoted above include the $485 destination and freight charges.

"The all-new Ion is priced to provide customers a terrific value," said Jill Lajdziak, Saturn vice president of sales, service and marketing. "Reaction among the youth market has been very positive and we feel that the pricing strategy will help increase consideration by this very important part of the automotive market."

The Ion Quad Coupe, with first-in-segment dual rear access doors (RAD), will begin production in the first part of 2003. Pricing for the Ion Quad Coupe will be announced at a later date.
