Red Line Sky to Pack 260 Horsepower SaturnFans.com December 22, 2005 An alert SaturnFans.com visitor sent me an interesting tidbit of information with a published link to boot. The LA Auto Show website has revealed the horsepower and torque specifications for the Pontiac Solstice GXP roadster that is set to debut at that show in about a week. General Motors has not yet officially released information about the upcoming GXP, but the company is expected to do so when the sports car is unveiled. The Wilmington, Delaware-built Saturn Sky Red Line is widely expected to feature the same potent powerplant. Previous rumors suggested that the Red Line's motor would generate at least 250 horsepower. According to the folks at LAautoshow.com: "The sleek new two-seater gets more power with the debut of the Solstice GXP, which features GM's all-new Ecotec 2.0-liter turbo, the most powerful production engine in the Ecotec family. This turbo with direct injection kicks a V-6's worth of power out of a four-cylinder engine, an estimated 260 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. It will arrive in dealerships this summer." The Sky will be available at Saturn retail facilities around the country beginning next spring. The Red Line model should be available sometime later in the year.
