New Saturn Names Revealed
SaturnFans.com • July 13, 2004

A credible source has revealed to SaturnFans.com the names of three upcoming Saturn products: Signal, Evoke, and Outlook. Neither Saturn nor GM have officially confirmed the names, but a quick search of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's online database shows that Saturn has in fact registered trademarks for them. While it has been rumored for some time that the Saturn's Epsilon-based L-Series replacement would be called 'Signal,' the proposed names of the other two vehicles had previously been unknown.

Its been reported that the 'Evoke' will essentially be a production version Saturn's Kappa-based Curve concept sports coupe. GM said earlier this year that cues from the Curve's interior will carry over into production, but its exterior will be restyled for a more dramatic appearance. Recent rumors suggest that the Evoke may not be a coupe, but a roadster instead. Production is expected to begin in early 2006.

The 'Outlook' will be a crossover sport-utility built on GM's upcoming Lambda architecture. It will be the first division to build an SUV on the platform that will eventually support car-based sport-utilities and minivans for Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, and GMC. The steel-bodied Outlook will be similar in size to the Honda Pilot and positioned as a step-up vehicle for Vue owners.

More details about each of these vehicles are expected to be released shortly after GM's board of directors meets next month to formally approve the products for production. Now that union workers at Saturn's Spring Hill manufacturing facility have approved a new working agreement that falls in line with other GM plants, the company is expected to make some rather significant announcements about the future of the Saturn brand and the Spring Hill plant.
