Default Saturn SC2 Exhaust Flange Rusted Out

Hello, I just bought a Saturn SC2 1999 with 165000km. I noticed a very loud noise from under the car so i jacked it up and noticed where my exhaust meets under the car it has rusted and all the screws broke out and it isnt attached anymore! Is there any fix other than buying a new exhaust? Thank You!

Here is a picture of my exhaust and it looks like its to close to the catalac converter to fit a split flange to fix it what would be the easiest fix

I had to cut/weld/remachine/drill and tap a flange on mine.

If you cant you'd probably be better off going to an exhaust shop honestly.

They are equipped to do it.

Had the same problem.

I strapped a metal bar across it and bolted that to the bottom of the car. Wouldn't fall out. :-)

I tried JB Weld but it didn't take.

My next fix will be to cut out the flange, attach a straight pipe and strap them together. With my metal bar it won't go anywhere.

Welcome!

Honestly, it all comes down to the condition of the rest of the exhaust system, how long you're planning on keeping the car and if you are a fix-it or patch-it person.

Sure you can patch it back up with a split flange clamp, a new gasket and some sealant but that will probably only be good for a few years at best. With that many miles I'd be thinking the Cat is the original and probably is getting close to warrant replacement? Seeing the welds in your pictures it's a little hard to tell what's been replaced recently though?

They come in a wide variety of sizes and configurations. That's what's been holding mine together for the last year.
