Default Odometer gear orientation

Thanks to the information in this forum, I've opened my odometer (94 SL2, ~130,000 mi) to find the small red gear completely disintegrated. My question is, which side of the replacement red gear goes against the piece holding the larger gear - the flat side or the side with the peg on it?

Default Re: Odometer gear orientation

the gear goes on;
with the gear close to the pod ,stub out on the stem .
If you try putting the gear close to motor ,you'll see it catches on things.
Have A Great Day , it is YOUR choice !
