Default Speedo/Tach issues

Last night on my drive home on the interstate I had an occurance that is kinda boggling my brain. I had the cruise set a 70-71. Everything was working perfectly. Then the E-brake light came on, the tach needle dropped to zero, the speedo needle shuttered and dropped to zero. when they both zeroed out the e-brake light turned off and both neddles went back to where they were before. It did that about a dozen times in my 30 min ride back home. everything else stayed working. The gas gauge didn't move, nor did the temp gauge. The engine stayed running. It was like nothing else happened with the car. just the 2 needles dropping out and the e-brake light. The connections on the back of the gauge pod are tight.

Any thoughts?
That's my opinion,

Check your charging system, your battery and make sure the cables are free of corrosion.

Battery should be at 12.5 volts w/engine off, and around 14 volts w/engine running.
