Default Smashed Rear Quarter Window

This past weekend, a thief smashed my rear passenger quarter window and stole my laptop and my fiancee's wedding dress. A horrific event!

I wanted to see if anyone of you know how to replace the window. Saturn wants $100 to replace it (labor only). Is this an easy job?

Welcome to the Board.

Year and model would be helpful.

man... that blows, I had my car broken into lost about 3g's worth of stuff. My advice is invest in a mossberg or glock. My car window has a sticker that says "this vehicle is protected by glock inc."

Haynes manual has this to say on the subject:
Quote:
Windshield and fixed glass - replacement
Replacement of the windshield and fixed glass requires the use of special fast-setting adhesive/caulk materials and some specialized tools. It is recommended that these operations to a dealer or a shop specializing in glass work.
I have the same problem so I went out and looked at mine. I agree with Haynes. Doesn't look like a job I want to tackle. A temporary fix is to cover the window with packing tape. Works for me.

You seem to be resurrecting a number of ancient threads. Might want to stick to topics that are somewhat current so people are still paying attention to them.

This thread is 4 years old I'm sure by now the car is in a junkyard and a broken window is the least of the problems...

As may be, but I do have a Saturn with a smashed rear window and therefore, have an interest in the subject.

Most people I know usually don't mess with glass, Here in PA and the cold trying to take a window out in the bitter cold usually ends up with a busted unit, I am one of those people that usually doesn't mess with it, That's one thing that usually has to be done professionally especially with getting it sealed properly with the urethane seal.
