2008 Astra XR
Default Mystery connector by floor shifter

Hi, does anybody know what this is supposed to connect to?

mystery connector by cindycated, on Flickr

Replacing my broken floor shifter and came across this unconnected wire. Wondering if the last mechanic left it unplugged from somewhere.

Thanks!

It a connector for a rain sensor, Saab also carries the same connector for the rain sensor. If it is just hanging out you must not have a rain sensor on the car. All manufacturers use the same wiring harness for every car, if it is a base model there are generally a few accessory plugs left hanging around unseen, when they start adding the different model variants the higher end ones will be using all the plug.

But yeah its for a rain sensor, a company in Switzerland makes it called TE Connectivity. They pretty much only make electrical connectors for many different applications.

Also it plugs into a module that communicates with the sensor itself.

I am a mechanic I have had to unhook several of those in a Saab and a few other cars. Under there is usually where you will find at least 1 module bolted to the floor on a lot of cars out there. Those plugs are memorable because after you squeeze the bottom 2 sides of it the thing comes out really easily. A lot of pigtails don't come out easy so you remember the ones that do.
