Default EGR Cleaning - Problem

I have got to post this and run, so I'll see the answers tomorrow,

I just finished cleaning my EGR. Followed the richpin video and as many threads that discussed it.

However, when I did the engine startup to blow out the carbon, the engine ran and then immediately stalled. And then wouldn't start. Just heard the starter spin (no chugga-chugga)

I tried and tried with no go. So I reinstalled the EGR. Tried again, got an intermittent chugga. Cleaned up some more. Tried again. Intermittent chugga. Finished putting tools away. Now it sounds like it might want to start, but won't.

Eventually, I got it started by, when it sounded like it REALLY wanted to take, I gassed it. Then it caught, and ran fine. Now it starts without any problem.

Should I be at all worried.?

The exhaust smelled horrible (if that helps). Like I had flooded it.

About the only thing I did different from the video, is someone commented to spray carb cleaner into the port before running the engine. I am figuring (hoping) that the engine didn't like that course of action (or I put in too much) and it had to clear the system.

Thanks in advance!

David

That's the correct answer.

Whoever suggested carb cleaner should keep their ideas to themselves or provide adequate instructions.

Awesome,

Putting note in mental book not to do that again!

Just wanted to make sure I hadn't created a bigger problem, and that I could fix the problem before something bigger broke.

Thanks!
