They talk about a few of the components from the Deebs build, and also decking the head. .02" is the usual.
* Shave the head taking off 0.50mm will bump the ratio from 9.5 to about 10.2

* Install the flat faced intake and exhaust valves from a 1991-1993 DOHC this alone will bump the ratio +0.3

"any block will work, 99+ are stiffer
99 rods and pistons, pre-99 crank
01+ lower block brace to stiffen things up
valves are typically 91-93 flat faced version and use 98 valve springs due
to increased stiffness
head isn't as important, stay away from 91 and 99+ stuff
This basic combination netted us 133 horsepower at the wheels, which
translates to 145+ at the crank and the motor was a screamer"

91-93 header will add a few ponies. Since you're in there, swap the cam on the exhaust side for another intake cam. Bore your TB, or get the Geo Storm one. You can get a pretty good build from JY parts.

Started kicking myself after I took the head off the '96 block. Had my old '93 engine installed & running in my SC2 by then. Could have done a bit of a comp bump for free then but was told there was a hole in a piston in the '96 engine so I took the guys word on it. Oh well, theres always next time for putting a '93 head on a maybe '96 block (engine in the car when I bought it was the 2nd one that it had so I dunno if it was a '96 or not...) Stupid broke valve... lol

The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)
