Default Speed Limiter Removal S-Series FREE

I had some people ask me the last time we were at Daytona running in the ITA class how we got our car to 142 mph....I thought I posted this here a while ago I guess not. It used to cut out at 127 with the early auto PCM.
It's EZ.
We got axles from an abs equipped car and took the speed pick up gears off the axle, We welded (filled) four in a row and left four open all the way around the gear so the tooth count was half as much.....it reads 60 at 120. You do have to disconnect the TSS switch (plug). it tricks the computer and does not shut the fuel off or anything else.
The tach works and all the other gauges, no ses lights or anything.

The speedo works half speed when we race but if you wanted to have it for street use just plug the tss plug back in.

None of that makes any sense. The PCM doesnt use the the ABS system to determine speed.

Somethings missing in your explaination.

I doubt many here have a s-series that is capable of going that fast on a track. It would have to be on a 2 mile downhill straight away.

I'm not sure how the ABS sensors are used either? I would think that the Vehicle Speed Sensor on the transmission would be the one you need to modify. It seems to work the same way.

all this means is that there are going to be a LOT of kids doing this mod who have no business driving that fast. sounds like it takes a bit of welding skill, so that may thin the herd a little...

Westwind, u r right.
I got with my crew chief to see exactly what he did.....I am just the driver lol.
Alright sorry I left something out...was at work and it was gettin late.
We took an ABS speed pick up and wired in to the VSS (vehicle speed sensor plug in) when you trick the sensor by filling in the notched gear so that the loop is thinking it is going slower than it is. It works great

if you want pics I can get them.

you dont need abs you just need the gear (rings) off of an abs axle and a abs speed sensor.

In English (which includes capitalization, etc.): this mod uses an otherwise-unused ABS reluctor and sensor as a "surrogate" VSS signal generator. Being after the final drive ratio of the differential, and probably having fewer reluctor teeth than the VSS reluctor in the tranny, it sends fewer pulses per given distance than the VSS reluctor/sensor, thereby sending a lower speed reading to the PCM. Actual speed is thus higher than that "reported" to the PCM, and therfore when the PCM reaches the "perceived" 124 MPH limit speed, the car is actually going faster. Ingenious.

Of course, on a car actually equipped with ABS, the ABS would fail. An even cooler fab would be a dash switch that would, in one position, leave the ABS hardware and VSS connected as normal ("road mode"), and in the other position, disable the ABS and feed the VSS connector with the ABS signal as described herein ("race mode").

Of course, this also does not remove the speed limiter. It only raises the maximum speed.

Oh, and don't forget, if/when you sell the car, you'll have to indicate on the title that the odometer is wrong.

I think if you dropped one out of an airplane nose first, terminal velocity would be somewhere around there.

Very interesting approach! Never heard of anyone doing that before.
I still think it's easier to install a megasquirt, but you can print a custom speedo that'll go to over 200 mph this way. Haha, nice.
