Default Cruise

So I swapped a Mp2/3 (can't remember which it was) 5 speed from my wrecked 95 Sl2 into my 01 Sc2 and was wondering is anyone knew if or how to get the cruise control operational? Both cars had cruise to begin with, any advice would be appreciated!

No personal experience here, other than adding cruise to my 98, but since no one else has chimed in -

It's a bit of a stumper - both cars are DOHC so the trans swap should not have changed anything and your cruise should work.

Does cruise engage in 3rd or 4th gear?
Did cruise on the 2000 work before the swap?
Did you confirm the trans from the '95 was the correct one (check the trans ID number, or look at rpms in 5th gear)

There's a very long thread in the Mods forum started by ShawnV, about swapping the fifth gear from a SOHC into the DOHC cars, that might hold some clues. Look in particular for the posts by OldNuc and DIYguy.

Do you have a SES light?

95 model year is a unique configuration for cruise control. You need find the donor parts (cruise module, cc switch pod, brake switch and clutch safety switch) from a 95 model for it to work in a 95. The reverse would be true for putting 95 model year parts into a GEN3. The 95 CC module would not work in an 01.

That said, the transmission really has nothing to do with the cruise control other than the inputs to the BCM (RPM's) that it creates. RPM's out of range will cause it not to work. This would be the case of putting an SOHC transmission into a DOHC configured S Series. The gear range change would affect the RPM's created at a certain speed. The BCM is expecting a certain RPM at each speed.

Ok so I understand what has been said, apologize for the late response. What I'm wondering is what I would need to do to have the CC functional now that the trans from the 95 is operational in the 01?
No SES light
Not entirely sure of gear ratio but I do know that both transmissions were MP2/3 I just can't remember which it was. (I found factory printing on both bellhousings)
I don't know if the cruise worked in the 01 prior to the swap, I bought the 01 with the typical Diff pin issue.
I've tried connecting the CC switch (not entirely sure if that's the correct wording for the part but the control switch that has the On/Off, Set/Coast, Res etc buttons) with no luck of it engaging the CC...

Any idea or advice is greatly appreciated!

You should verify which trans it is before spending more time on this!

I will see what I can't get a good look at the print on the bell housing today, unless there is another place it would be stamped that I am not aware of?

I believe the only reliable place it's stamped is the bellhousing, between the upper 2 mounting bolts. There might be another stamping of it nearer the coil packs as well.

The number stamped near (below?) the coil/ICM is on the engine and is the engine ID.
