Default No sound - left front

I have no sound at all in the left front channel of my six-disc changer ('02 L300). The lower door speaker (mid-range) nor the tweeter put out any sound.

If the mid-range speaker is defective, will it cause the tweeter to stop functioning, too. Or, is there something wrong with the left front channel at the radio?

I'd appreciate any help you can give. I suppose I could take apart the door and hook up an old speaker to the channel and see if I get sound.

Well at least you thought out the two possibilities - either the radio connections or the door wiring to the speakers. There may be one other place and that's where the wiring flexes at the entry to the doors if they were kinked resulting in chafing, leading to internal hidden wire damage. Your choice as to which place to start looking. My guess is the OEM speakers use simple crossover wiring and if the main speaker is blown, so is the tweeter or a wire broke off disabling both simultaneously.

I was thinking that it would be almost pointless to check the speakers if they are wired independently.

I think I'll grab an old speaker out of the basement and tear into the door and see what I find out. Maybe I'll be doing some business with Crutchfield soon.
