Default Transmission fluid in a manual transmission

So I have had my 95 Saturn SL Sohc, manual transmission for 4 years from 246,000km (152,857miles) until today with 310,000km (192,625miles) and I'm wondering if the standards ever need their transmission fluid changed. I believe I topped it off when i first bought it and I believe it used ATF Dexron II or III or something which I thought was odd at the time. I don't believe it has gone down since but I also think it may never have been changed. Does it need to be, and if so, how often? Or how long ago should it have, lol?

Replacing the manual transaxle fluid isn't required, though I personally feel it's inexpensive enough that I go ahead & do it anyway after a long while. If it's never been changed, maybe go ahead & change it, and never again.

How difficult is this; I would like to do it? I couldn't find any threads for the manual because I've heard it is done only once. Could I use a turkey baster method and put in the same amount I take out? Is there a filter associated with the manual?

I just did mine, there is a recent post with me asking the same questions

http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=115615

Basically get yourself 3 quarts of fluid. (takes 2.6 quarts). Put a pan underneath the bolt on the tranny, remove it and let it drain. There is no filter for manual's. Once trained, put the bolt back in (also listed in owner's manual how to do as well as link in the posts above). Get a funnel (with long tube) and pour in new fluid. Put dipstick back in and your done.
