I enjoyed it, but I am not surprised that some would be offended. It is interesting to note that the Germans take their dogs into restaurants with them. I don't know if that makes the joke easier for rossao to take or not?

Very funny.

Please note: This is the GTC, not the Red Line. Opels Red Line is called OPC (Opel Performance Center).

Here can you see the Astra OPC commercial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihz1nXEFgco

And this video shows the whole OPC line. Engines are the 1.6 Turbo (180hp) for the Meriva, 2.0 Turbo (240hp) for Astra and Zafira and the 2.8 V6 Turbo (255hp) for the Vectra sedan and wagon.

Very nice commercial! Not funny, but very good at getting it's point across in a simple way.

...and I thought Saturns commercials here in the states were bad...that was vaugely horrifying...GM can bring the cars, the performance, the style, but they are NOT allowed to bring that advertising company over with them!

That is not a commercial. This short video clip is taken from the official Opel OPC DVD. By the way, on this DVD you can see how the Opel Astra OPC set a new track record for 2 liter street legal cars on a German race track.

Ok, that kinda explains it...still very cheesy. The video of the track is GREAT! We'll be getting that same hatchback here in the States right? Please say yes.

Try to imagine GM/Saturn allowing this commercial on US TV. Leigons of blue haired old ladies and civic owners would march, toy dogs in hand, demanding removal of the ad and apoligizes from GM/Saturn. Riots in the cities, looting everywhere, medicare swamped with claims.
I have a Maltese and an Irish Setter myself so trust me I'm a dog person from way back. But that has got to be the funniest car commercial I've ever seen.

step on it Kato, they're gettin closer..........

JDRedline, I think we are probably the exception and not the rule. SoCal is so much different than the NorCal, Frisco, Berkely crowd.

Amen. The Van Nuys contingent from the nut crowd loved it.
I love my birds, but I don't get offended seeing ads for KFC or that Fed Ex commercial where the cave man kicks the dinosaur after getting fired from work for not getting a package delivered in time.
I find Cadillac's and Nissan's loud obnoxious screaming commercials far more irritating and "offensive". I'm sure other people like them.
Saturn would be wise to get a clue. Their advertising has been lousy for years. With the new product coming we can only hope they'll take a different tack and not people their ads with dorks, geeks, clowns, or people carrying lanterns.
They may have gotten the message, given the new ads I have seen.

Thank you very much for posting that. That was awesome. If I ever go to Europe, I want to spend a whole day at the Nurburgring, preferably with a car that is fun to drive and doesn't have a speed limiter any less than 150 MPH. On the main straight at the end he was topping out at around 240KM/H! wow! I think our SL2 could easily get replaced with something like that. Would be cool to have to Saturn Red Lines in the garage, both with hatches!
...
Tupperware cars FTW!!!

Ok, so it needs an LSD, swaybars, and wider/better tires...what Saturn hasn't... This just gives me a refference point about where to start the modifications.
