So I was poking around to see which parts I need, and it seems that my Vue uses a single pump for front and rear window washer?
If so, is there something that's the likely problem here? For what it's worth, there is no leak from the system. I filled the reservoir up and there are no leaks as it sits, or when I pull the stalk back for washer fluid. |

More likely one reservoir, two pumps.

Other members posted snapshots of the windshield washer reservoir. Driver's side fender well (after removing the wheel well splash shield). If the washer filler neck is on the driver's side then the reservoir is down below it. If on the passenger side then on that side. Removing the wheel well splash shield should reveal full access to the washer, pump(s) and wiring. Once access is available, someone can try turning on front washer while you check for pump operation. If the pump doesn't run (slight hum when running) check for power (fuse blown?) and if the connection to pump is loose or corroded from weather/road exposure to road salting.

I found a youtube video showing that it is one pump.
Mine works, but only for the rear window. I'm thinking the front line might be clogged somehow, but i'm not sure how to clean it out. And a good bit of the line runs under the top wiper motor cover. It's a quick job, so i'm probably going to replace the motor and see if that helps. They're only around 20 bucks. It will be worth the troubleshooting for it if it's something different. |

So this is what I found. At the bottom of the reservoir, there is a grommet that the pump fits into.
In most instances there is a filter there, but there wasn't one on my Vue. So I suspect the nozzles didn't fail, as much as they were just clogged. I put the new pump in the car, and realized there was a split section in the hose right on the fender edge in front of the washer reservoir. So you can pull that apart. Which means I could have just unplugged that, and if the coolant came out of that point, it would mean the pump was good. I put a new pump in it anyway, along with new nozzles. I don't mind having put a new pump on it though, i'm in N.E. Ohio and winters are tough here. Good to have some insurance that the pump will hold up. It's an ACDelco, and it was only 20 bucks. |
