Default auxiliary jack

My dad has a 2002 LS2. It has the stock stereo with the 6 disk changer built in. There is a button on the front that says AUX. In the back of the stereo, is there an input for 1/8" jack or RCA inputs? My dad wants to plug his MP3 player in.

Try it, it can't hurt anything.

Ya, it's just that the stereo isn't as easy to pull out to look at the back like the one in my Sc2. I would like to know ahead of time if there is no input so I don't waste my time pulling the stereo out.

What do you mean just for the CD player?

the 6 disc changer for the L series doens' have a CD/TAPE button like the normal double din single disc player. They called it the AUX instead. I don't know why

If it's just an input, then it is sending the signal to the amplifier. So the jack should work with an Mp3 player.

Yep. I wired a friend's civic for his ipod through the RCA input normally used for the CD player (it's a separate unit in certain Hondas).

No, there's a tape/cd button on the stereo. It has the disc changer built in to the deck. When I push the aux button, nothing happens, so I was thinking maybe a signal had to be going through it to switch over. I guess I will just pull it out and see. Does anyone have directions for pulling the stereo out?

Pop the trim bezel of by squeezing it toward the center.

When that comes off, you will see 2 metric hex bolts holding the unit in. (7mm, IIRC). The unit should slide out. Try not to remove the harness unless you want to reset everything
.
Do a search and you should find more detailed info.
Hope this helps.

Idea Re: auxiliary jack

i also have a 2002 L200 sedan with a 6 disc changer though i also have a dvd system...when i'm tryin to go from anything else(radio, tape, dvd) back to the cd player i push the aux button...though i dont know if there's a connection on the back of the cd player, your father should get a power plug and an adapter for the ipod, they cost around 20 for the power plug(it plugs into the aux. power outlet, or cig. lighter) and they make two different types of adapters, 1) its like the tape deck adapter for a discman(usually around 10 dollars) or 2) it tunes into an unused radio station on the radio(depending on the model range from 15 up to over 100 dollars)...this is what we had to do to my roommates old car so he could listen to his ipod in the car

I work at Radio Shack, and sell both of those. The last thing my dad needs is wires going everywhere, and more things to have to mess with. I'll pop the radio out and see what I can do.

Did you ever find out if the auxiliary jack in the back works on that ipod? I would like to hook up that way as well.

You probably need an interface to plug in anything other than the factory changer into that aux jack. Maybe Blitzsafe makes one...
