2001 L200. The "trunk open" light keeps going on and off on my L200. The trunk is closed. It seems like the trunk lid must need adjusted. I screwed the two ajusters all the way in on the rear lid - still didn't fix it. Is itpossible the latch itself that is causing the issue ?

If you look closely, you will see a switch lever inside of the latch mechanism. It is probably bent.

I would also take a look at the U shape bar that triggers the trunk latch. Make sure that the trunk latch is lined up properly. Enough trunk closures and this will get loose and throw your alignment off. This may be what bent your switch lever inside the latch.

Odd. I've had this happen to me once or twice recently and I discounted it as being caused by gobblins in the trunk.
Once I even pulled off the road to close the trunk ....only to find that it was closed. Seems to be the worst going out of my neighborhood up the big hill. But it doesn't happen always. Maybe 1 in 10 trips up. |
