Default Vibration!!

I am still having vibration around 70-75mph.

Replaced/performed:
-Entire drive shaft and support bearings
-Entire Rear axle was redone and fresh fluid
-Alignment
-All tire balanced and rotated
-Brake pads/rotors resurfaced

What could be causing the vibration still. It's to the point where drinks in my cup holders shake vigorously, but really no shaking in the steering wheel. I had posted on here a while ago the all my tires have circumference cracks due to age, but there is still a ton of tread. Could that be the cause for the vibration? Pretty much everything that could cause vibration other than the tires have been replaced. 30-65mph there really isn't any vibration. I'm clueless!!!

Well lets see...endlinks are nown to go, and cause clunking and vibration.

I have a vibration in mine, not as extreme as to shaking drinks in my cupholders like yours, but pretty sure my bearings are going. It was more noticable yesterday on the interstate at those high speeds as well.

Your belts inside your tires could of shifted, good tread or not.

I wouldn't waste time or money resurfacing brake components. Its prolly cheaper anyways to just get new. Get new lifetime warrantied parts. Rotors are known for warping..mine did after 8K. Could still have brake vibration.

Maybe the struts...maybe bushings in your front end parts..

Doens't sound to me at all that everthing that could make the vibration was replaced.

I've seen larger lists of replaced parts with noises and vibrations still.

I rechecked my service done on the car a few months ago and all end links control arms, bushings were all replaced at 27k miles and I now have 33k. Struts are original from what I can see, so I have no idea if that's the problem. Yeah the resurfacing of the rotors I actually did not have to pay for, but now that they did it and under hard braking it sounds like they're grinding. I have new pads and resurfaced rotors and it makes a grinding noise.

I guess I shouldn't have said the beverages shake vigorously, but they do shake noticeably and you can feel it in the seats.

I just wish I could drive or ride in someone's redline other than mine so I could compare, but I do not know of anyone that owns one in MN

Man I sure wish we could find out what is causing this - it's the same issue I have, I'm not sure exactly what everyone means by end links - if someone has a photo or a part# at rockauto that would be great, so I know exactly what I'm look at.

So basically I have had the same issue and here is what I've done to my 07 RL.
1. New tires and rims - road force balanced - went back to stock rims after i found out not the issue.
2. New struts and shocks all around. - didn't do the strut mounts on the front - stupid me - and there is a smaal clunk there but doesn't bother me to much. and the vibration was there before and after .
3. Both front axles new, both front hubs new.
4. new front brake rotors and pads.
5. rear drums taken apart clean and adjusted.
6. brought to 3 differnt dealers a few times each

Guess what vibration still there can't find it. - Next time - toyota.

The only thing I can think of now is the rear hubs or the u joint on the drive shaft - but I sick of sinking money into this thing.

Oh and now i have this creak or clunk from the back - sounds almost like the muffler banging around - I got under the car - All the mounts are good and I could barely move the exhaust. So who knows - just one more thing - probably the latch on trunk even worse one of the bolts on the rear shocks.

Those Toyota's never seem to have any problems.

Lets try the basics ... do you feel vibration ...

in steering wheel?

gas pedal?

brake pedal?

arm-rest?

seat back?

seat bottom?

Do you have AWD?

Is vibration always present, or occur in a range of speed?

Default Re: Vibration!!

In the seats and arm rest + and pedals some, not so much in the wheel until 75+ mph, I have the AWD and like Hoagrod's - if I put a drink in the holder it's clearly visable that it's shaking. I put my hand on the floor this morning - just behind the center counsel around the back seats as I was on the highway and it was vibrating - you could feel it through the floor. It seems to get worse in higher speeds and is more noticeable on newly paved roads. Is the center support hard to change or require any specil tools?

And I'm not saying Toyotas won't have problems but this is beyond what I consider standard issues you should have. My vibration started slowlt around 36k, I now have 71k - and like I said I have brought it to several dealers and they always have no solid answer like " oh wheel you need to put on the wheel spacers" the spacers are little pieces of plastic and did not do a thing. Then it was road force balancing - Once again no change. So at this point I can't trust the shops because they charge just for walking through the door. Does anyone know if the center bearing/u joint is under warranty for 100k?

I have vibration in....

steering wheel
arm rests
seats
center console (where drinks sit)

0-45 to 50 no vibration

55-75 gets noticeable and then gets worse approaching 75

I've had all endlinks, bushings, control arms, strut mounts, entire drive shaft and all tires and wheels balanced and rotate and the car has been aligned.

I have about 3,000 miles left of GM certification warranty, so I may be bringing it in

Did you ever find out what caused this vibration?

The drive shaft they put in was warped. Replaced that and eventually got new tires which helped as well.

...That's my issue , when it is cold out it vibrates, when hot/warm out it is almost gone .Everything was replaced ,even with GM stuff. Gonna go with a diff. company that makes the vue AWD driveshaft with a slip joint ,that others on this site have used, 750 bucks versus 1200 for a gm one that is less sturdy, just my.02, DC

I had the same thing when I owned my 2005 RL, and found that I had two torn MOTOR Mounts...the engine actually flopping weight side to side..have you checked this...hard to notice..rubber connections of motor mounts rip.

Which two motor mounts did you change? I have those symptoms also... the dealer changed the front when I bought it. I changed the one under the air filter box. I wouldn't be surprised if another mount was damaged if two were simultaneously damaged at one point...thank you.

Joseph,
There are three motor mounts, passenger side top at airbox, bottom front in between radiator and engine, the third is bottom rear and car probably will need to be on hoist for that one. I had to have all three replaced about a year ago.. Made a HUGE difference in how car rode and felt.

What about the intermediate shaft assy -from the transmission to the passenger side front CV?

How much tread depth is left in your tires?
HOw many miles?
Are the blocks worn flat or are the front/rear heights different?
DIfferent depths across the face( width) of the tread?

Balancing doesn't mean squat to some worn tires.

Derppppppp, Now I see this is a 3 year old thread

Billy,
Mark94 brought it back up in July and a couple of folks are still asking questions... Doesn't sound like the problems I am having with that intermediate shaft and bearing, but it might be. Thinking more a drive shaft or OLD tires that are really stiff when cold but soften with the heat....which still isn't a good thing....
I tell ya though, I get that shaft replaced and that whirring goes away, with the thunking under the dash fixed, my Vue will be REAL nice to drive and ride in with its new found silent interior....

Mine shakes bad too. Worse at 62mph. Anything over 80 and it's gone. Under 60 and no shaking. Front wheel drive. Have new front hubs. All tires. No bent wheels. New front struts

AWD. Shakes from 77-85 or more. Makes a clanking noise. Goes away with steering input.

I'm thinking it's weird alignment issue, or hub/bearing related.
