2006 VUE Red Line
Default Non K & N intake system

I'm sure this has been talked about, but I could find a thread on this intake. Has anybody dealt with intake or company? I emailed them 3 days ago to see if they had stock still and haven't heard back yet.

They haven't made the knockoffs for probably 2-3 years now.

If you were really interested in doing one, you could probably get an exhaust shop t bend you up the piping for it. Or you could make it out of PVC or something.

I'd personally want to make it into a shorter intake, so it doesn't go from one side of the engine bay to the other.

IMO just debong your car, its free, you'll get the sound of a CAI, and if you don't have fog lights you'll probably get a little hp boost. I noticed a little drop in intake temp when I did mine.

You might be able to find a K&N on ebay for cheap.

I agree, the CAI is not worth the $ unless you just like the looks. No real performance gain. Just stick a washable filter in place of the paper one and be done.

Actually making a shorter intake would be a bad idea. There is a proven scientific reason for having a long intake like ours have. I cannot recall the principle, but basically the long run of the intake allows for a process whereby your engine can form more horsepower. It's actually why some aftermarket intakes work well when they move the intake further away from the throttlebody.

I'm looking for a little more rumble. When I bought the red line it had a slight exhaust leak and outside sounded crappy, but inside the rumble was nice and I liked it. I did get the exhaust leak fixed and now the RL is silent!!! I can barely hear anything when accelerating, so I kind of miss the rumble. I know air intakes you don't really hear unless you pound on it, but the sound is great.

De-bonging helps. But yes, the Vue RL has an absurdly quiet exhaust. I'm planning to ditch one of my mufflers to fix this.

Has anyone on here added the magnaflow exhaust system for sale, I wonder?

It's the only system I can find available for the Vue other than custom.

I contacted three sites that had this generic intake system like the K & N posted on their site and all said they were discontinued. Kind of a disappointment or tease that they would keep a product on their website for sale and not actually have the part.

Hoagrod,

I had ordered the titanium From 4Car..and they claimed a not in stock, and refunded my money to my Paypal immediately..so none in stock, and they did not make any claim as to if or when they will be, so I am biting the bullet and going to order the 77 series K&N...I had made my own short tube runner..with a spector set, but I took it out a long time ago..too hot under the hood for where I had placed it. Best.. good luck with this..

I bought a universal kit from Advance autoparts and it fit perfectly, and was quite a a bit less expensive than the other options. Adds a bit more noise when under throttle, I like it. Autozone also sells Speed by Spectre parts to create your own system that way, didn't figure the price on this one.
