Default Mild Rattle on the Front End

Hey gang!

There is this mild rattle I've been hearing on the front end of the passenger side of my SL2. I changed out the tie rods and control arms, both sides, over the weekend due to play and cracked bushings. But I'm still getting that rattle. I'm thinking struts, maybe even sway bar bushings? What are your thoughts?

Before you ask me questions, I already changed out the mounts a few months ago and all the nuts are locked tight. Brakes and rotors were also changed.

Slide a hand under the front, might be that plastic shield under the radiator is rattling, or some other plastic wiggling..

Its not that. I already checked. The rattle has a bit of a clunk now and then.

It may be your sway bar bushings. I had one one the driver's side that made the car quite creaky and was probably responsible for my strut mount wearing prematurely. Looking at how the bushing was sitting, you could see why. I made it worse when I mounted a strut bar which gave it even less play, to the point that the alignment shop wouldn't even work on the car until I got that sorted.

Once I had the bushing on properly, it was like night and day. I also removed the strut bar for the time being and the creaking has all but disappeared.

Good to know! I do have some sway bar bushings on order. Supposed to arrive today. I am hoping that's what it is. Otherwise It may be something I fear that's worse. But process of elimination...

Do you get the rattle when the engine is on but the car is not moving, like in P or N? Or is the rattle only present while moving (and no rattle when the car is sitting still and idling)?

Do you hear the rattle when driving on smooth roads?
Or is it only present when on bumpy roads?

Do you hear it when, on a smooth road, you shift it into neutral and coasting?

It's rattling on smooth and rough roads, but it's getting a bit more consistent. I read up that it may be the strut mount or strut bearing. I looked at it and it appears that may be right. A lot of wear and tear. It is a 2nd owned 97 model.
But I won't be able to change anything till next week. Seems Hawaii is lacking in stock for strut parts for some reason.

Besides I have another project with my wife's Nissan which requires more immediate attention. Will update on my vehicle later...

Update: Found out it was the strut mount bearing. Just changed out the struts and completed work on the front end, including stabilizer bar bushings. Got it aligned now it's good to go. Rides nice.

I just went with complete struts from NAPA since they had them in stock. Even got a AAA member discount!
