https://southjersey.craigslist.org/c...087789870.html

1 owner. 113k. 2000 SL2 dark green. Auto. My dad went to check it out. He said the body paint was immaculate and the interior was really nice except for the material wearing off the sun visors, but headliner was good. No subframe rust either. The issue was that her "neighbor" did the brakes for her and my dad said they weren't bled properly and that the brake line was reinstalled incorrectly so it has a very soft pedal. So he decided to pass on it because she was firm in her price. Maybe she'll come down? Stay tuned.

Default Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

Here's a 2002 SL that's a steal at only $7,999.

I suspect that they might have posted the description from a different car:

Quote:
200 hp horsepower, 3.8 L liter V6 engine, 4 Doors, 4-wheel ABS brakes, 6-way power adjustable drivers seat, Air conditioning, Automatic Transmission, Center Console - Full with covered storage, Clock - In-radio display, Cruise control, Daytime running lights, Dusk sensing headlights, Front air conditioning zones - Dual, Front fog/driving lights, Front seat type - Bucket, Front-wheel drive, Interior air filtration, Intermittent window wipers, Multi-function remote - Trunk/hatch/door/tailgate, Passenger Airbag, Power heated mirrors, Power steering, Power windows with 1 one-touch, Privacy/tinted glass, Rear bench seats, Rear defogger, Rear spoiler - Wing, Remote power door locks, Tachometer, Tilt steering wheel, Traction control - ABS and driveline
Either that or somebody put a lot of custom work into this thing.

(This appears to be the listing at the actual dealer, and it looks like the specs are correct there. They've still got an extra digit on the price, though.)

Weirdly, the same dealer is also selling this alleged '97 SC1 that looks suspiciously like an Ion for only $99. There's no explanation of what's wrong with it, but the city mileage is listed as 0x1.ae66666666666p4mpg, so that might be an issue.

1996 SL2 5spd fully rebuilt by a former Saturn technician

https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/...090625449.html

Quote:
*** New Everything *** $2700 obo. If ad is still up then it's still for sale. Will accept any reasonable offer. You don't know what I'll accept unless you make an offer

For sale is my 1996 Saturn SL2 5spd manual. Clean title. Gets approx 28 city / 32 highway. Great for someone's first car or gas saver.

I'm selling it because I bought a larger car for the family and I don't have room for it at my complex, or else I would be keeping it much longer. Also, the only reason I bought another car at this time was because my friend was suppose to buy this one and then backed out after the fact. Now I'm stuck with 2 cars and space for 1.

About me: Worked for Saturn for 7 years as a technician/mechanic. I've only owned Saturn's my whole life and this was my 4th. I love these cars and wish I could keep it.

About the car: I believe I'm the 2nd or 3rd owner of this one if I remember correctly from what I was told. I bought the car from an older couple who used it as their spare car and towed it behind their RV / motor home.

I bought the car in 2015 with 87,750 miles on it. I can imagine half of that was probably just "rolling" miles as it was being towed behind the RV.

I bought the car with a blown motor (probably from neglect as it was their spare car for the RV and never changed the oil).

I then spent the next two years rebuilding it. I've been driving it since June of 2017. I don't drive much. Car currently has 105,004. That's about 6k miles a year.

Car was fully loaded from the factory and features tan leather interior in good condition, power window and door locks, sunroof, cruise control, factory fog lights, spoiler, dual air bags and a.c.

I have pictures to prove of rebuild and can provide receipts for other parts if necessary. Below is what I have fixed/replaced on the car:

MOTOR
Rebuilt motor with new crankshaft, pistons, rods, rings, bearings and seals. Block bored / machined .020 over. Rebuilt and machined cylinder head with new valve guides and seals and valve job. New head gasket.

New timing chain, timing gears, tensioner and guides. New oil pump and screen. Cleaned and paint oil pan.

Intake manifold and throttle body (sand blasted clean). New intake manifold and throttle body gaskets.

New OEM / Factory parts installed:
Valve cover gasket, spark plugs, wires, engine coolant temperature sensor and connector, front and rear oxygen sensors.

Cleaned fuel rail, injectors and installed new injector seals.

Other new parts installed:
Alternator
Starter
Battery
Serpentine belt and tensioner
Idler pulley
Crankshaft pulley seal
Rear main seal
Exhaust manifold gasket
1991 Saturn factory oem header (ceramic coated)
Coolant hoses
Thermostat
Radiator
Coolant reservoir and cap
Fan motor
Air filter
Fuel filter
PCV valve
Motor mounts (top and bottom)

Brakes:
Brake pads and rotors
Rear brake shoes, drums and wheel cylinders
Flushed brake fluid

Suspension:
New struts front and rear
Eibach springs (lowered 1.2")
Front strut tower brace
New outer tie rods
Alignment

Transmission:
New clutch, hydraulics, fork and throw out bearing
Resurfaced lightweight flywheel (7.5 lbs vs 14lbs factory)
New transmission mounts (top and bottom)
Short shifter

Other miscellaneous things fixed, replaced or installed:

Fixed all 4 windows (replaced window guides and lubed window tracks and regulator)

Replaced all 4 speakers with upgrades planet audio speakers

Installed new radio (w/motorized 7" touch screen indash dvd, cd, radio, Bluetooth (phone and music), ipod, usb, and memory card (can disable so dvd doesn't show while driving)

Replaced air conditioning hose seals at compressor and recharged ac *blows nice and cold*

17" wheels with good tires (about 60% thread left). Has factory spare donut and jack in trunk and also comes with full size matching 17" spare with brand new tire

OEM / Factory Saturn window visors

Minor cosmetics things that where there when I bought it.
Driver seat torn some (rest of upholstery in great condition)

Small scratch on front bumper and lower/very bottom of passenger door (wife didn't even notice it for 4 years until I pointed it out)

Paint 7/10

Might be a couple other miscellaneous things that I've done but that's all I can remember for now.

If you have any questions please call, text or email me through craigslist and I'll be happy to answer them. Available pretty much anytime.

Default Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

This may be a deal for the right person.

Very basic 97 SL1 with 50K miles. No A/C, manual windows and locks, basic AM/FM radio. The only options it has seem to be the auto trans and power steering. (Unless power steering came standard. I honestly don't know.)

https://nh.craigslist.org/cto/d/goff...095583547.html

I do find the ad a little odd though.
Quote:

AUTOMATIC transmission - 4-cylinder - very CHEAP ON GAS!

Engine and transmission - EXCELLENT

NO any leaks, NO rust

NEW tires, breaks are very good.

4 NEW shock absorbers - front and rear

A/C, heating, radio - all working

NON-smoker car, very CLEAN - inside and outside

Very good exhaust system

Year of make: 1997.

Odometer: 50 k ONLY!

Inspected - whole year

Kelley Blue Book value: $2400

No idea what's wrong with this one. Seller says it runs and drives, but is selling it for parts. It's $800 and a fairly rare color so it may be worth checking out.

Seems like a nice car as long as the rust isn’t too bad. Would probably need new tires for summer driving.
