CD search when starting?

My wife just bought a new L300-2 wagon. I notice when the ignition key is turned to the 'ON' position, I hear the CD player start spinning (and perhaps searching?).

When there is a CD in the player, and I turn the ignition key to 'ON' , then this spinning does not happen.

Is this normal? This spinning sound is very faint, amoung all the other security and initialization clicking and rubbing sounds under the hood, should I be concerned?

I believe that the OEM and most aftermarket CD decks will restart whatever song was playing (Cd track) when the ignition was shut down with the deck ON. The deck will however "park" the laser upon shutdown regardless, so what you are hearing is the deck looking for that last song to start playing when it's initially powered back up.
