Whats in your Ion (show-off thread)

Haven't seen a thread to show off everyone's ions in a long time, so i think its time for a new one

Here is my 2003 ion-2 with 5sp manual (i appoligize if images are too big. photobucket does not have resize options from what i seen).

What i started with: Sept. of 2011 with 139,000 miles


Exterior Mods
-17x7" black rims (not sure of brand) with 205/40R17 tires
-Autobot logos in place of Saturn logos on grille and sides.
-New headlight housings with Projector retrofit kit, with housings painted black (gloss black for turn signals).
-Generic projector fog lamps.
-35w 6000k HIDs in headlights and fog lamps.
-White/amber Switchback LED turn signals (white when headlights on, amber with them off) (using home made resistor harnesses for LEDs).
-Aftermarket black tail lights with LEDs (currently using factory bulbs until home made resistor harnesses are made).
-Universal front plate mount added to bumper with UK flag plate with clear cover.
-Tinted plate cover for license plate in rear.
-18" Monster logo on back glass.

What i have now, minus the white stripes (skunk strips my dad calls them lol).
At the time of the first 2 photos: Aug of 2014 with 215,000 miles, engine untouched, with the exception of spark plugs and oil changes.






Projector Retrofits


Home made Resistor harness (info posted on another thread).


Interior Mods
-Blue map and dome LEDs.
-2005 Ion steering wheel.
-2006 Ion shift knob.
-Added the center console arm rest (didn't have it originally).
-JVC Single DINN stereo with USB/Aux/CD input and RCA output and changable colors.
-Boss Audio 5-ch 2500W max amp with 4 Scoche 6.5" inside speakers, and Sony XPlod 12" Sub in a vented box.
-Blue LEDs for gauge cluster with red LED behind the upper half of RPMs.
-few nick-nacks and graduation tassels hanging off of mirror







Amp mounted to back of driver side back seat (sub wasnt added back in it yet).


Performance/Handling Mods
-3" Spectre intake sections, pieced to make CAI, with blue Spectre filter located inside bumper.
-2006 Ion engine cover (to be painted/decorated. Ideas are welcome).
-2.25" catback bolt on exhaust.
-Moog swarbar bushings.
-Valuecraft swaybar endlinks with grease zerts (dont ever get those).
-Duralast tie rod ends with grease zerts.
-KYB Excel-G 2005 Cobalt shocks front/rear.
-Megan Racing 2" lowering springs



Need-to-dos
-Replace ball joints.
-Change downstream O2 sensor (P0137).
-Replace exhaust header with aftermarket one purchased with catback.
-Get new tire on 4th black rim (using the a silver wheel as a spare
-Replace rotors (still in descent shape, will be done with new set of pads).
-Get alignment done after getting 4th tire.
-Get refrigerant pressures checked

Want-to-dos
-Replace rotors with slotted/drilled ones.
-Fix cracked silver rim and get tires eventually.
-paint engine cover.
-Get better swaybar endlinks.
-paint brake callipers/drums, or get covers
-get factory fog lights and bumper grille and HIDs
-Add halos to headlights and maybe have amber halo for turn signal (if they make those lol).

yup, those were the wheels i was trying to convince my gf to give to me lol i think the car is what convinced her to give them to me. the honda been having a lot of problems lately. i still have one of the silver ones on as a spare for now untill i get a new tire on the 4th wheel.

since i cannot edit my OP, i guess stuff added to my lists will have to be sepperate.

Another thing to add to my "want-to-do", is to see if possible to take a spare driver door electronic window controls, take it apart, and swap the driver switch with a passenger switch on the main one. the purpose will to make automatic roll-down passenger windows.

Another thing too would be the SC rear disk brake conversion, discussed in another thread with silverspectre, if its possible.

I might be doing this wrong but this is what's in my Ion! First picture was last week when I jam packed the trunk full of mulch. This week is an AC electrical wire! Technically it is what's in my Ion!

Hey at least it wasn't dead hookers! Before I put all the mulch in there I lined the trunk with plastic and had 2 buckets and a shovel in there. If I has gotten pulled over and they did a random search, I am sure the proper answer would not be, 'It's for my wife.' technically my wife wanted mulch so this is what I did to get it!

SO, 2003 Saturn Ion 1- Stock, dual audio all around (temporary fix) My only plans is to get some 17s on her, better sound, and fog lights and spoiler is a maybe.

2006 Saturn Ion Redline- AEM SRI and Magnaflow muffler.
Parts waiting to be put on- 2.9 pulley, option b, tow hook, SSC springs, dual pass

Future- new wheels, zzp s3 fmhe, zzp long tube header, probably TVS upgrade, phenolic spacer, re-painted, and im sure theres more, but I have my plans on redline forums.

This is more of some random pics, but eh, whatevs.

its all good. it good to have a bit of humor lol

Nice redline. i always keep my eye out for other redlines on the road, but i think iv only ever saw one in lafayette. was silver, and looked stock with the high rise wing.

i deff want to get the #teamrecall tag too lol

Ill be taking one last trip to pull apart in lafayette too for fog lights. 2 ions (03 and a 05) were added a couple weeks ago. may get outside door panels too since the paint is peeling off mine if they are black lol

If its silver, it may be the one I saw for sale on craigslist. Guy wants 8k for it with 163k on it. I don't think he realizes its not worth half of that. Looks clean though, also stock. Theres a few of them in the BR/Lafayette area.

my 05 ion sedan 3. bought it 100% stock 4 years ago with 50k miles. im not going to list my build because its pretty big.

as it sits now:

-full fe5 suspension swap
-5 lug swapped for full disk brakes
-grey recaros with most of the interior swapped to black
-projectors and all black emblems
-fully built and sleeved 2.2
-s/c kit on e85
-full supporting mods to reach 500+whp


debating on throwing my 6262 turbo setup on it seeing to how i bought an lnf. going to be a tough market to sell a built motor on a limited platform.

car was supercharged on a 2.8 pulley with all supporting mods at 70k. i daily drove it for a couple years until i built it. the first pic was when it was mostly stock.
