Default Rocker Panels

So after 20+ years now, It is time to do the rockers on my 2000 L- Series 4 door 2.2L

My body guy can't find pre-cut rockers for this and we talked about trying to source rockers from somewhere in the states? I don't like the idea of him welding a different kind of metal in there. But Not sure what to do.

You have to acknowledge the reality that the L series has been out of production for 16 years and Saturn as a company has been closed for 13 years.
That in itself, tells you that many parts for these orphan cars are going to be only obtainable as used from junkyards or maybe Ebay.

If your body guy is more than just a welder, then building custom panels to weld where the panels have been removed due to rust shouldn't be beyond his skills. As for the metal, it's gonna be plain old sheet steel. Usually, prior to welding they spray with a galvanizing coating, then post welding and after the welds have been cleaned up, they can be sprayed with cold galvanizing to help protect them.

They sold many times more of these cars in Europe as a Vectra B. Repair body panels are available on ebay/UK.

For wrecking yards around the country go to http://www.car-part.com. I've purchased from wreckers on that site without any difficulties. Otherwise, look through a local/nearby LKQ Pick Your Part self-serve wrecking yard and check their inventory. Remember, all '00 through '02 L-Series sedans are using the same black rocker trim panel. https://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/parts/

Biden/Harris predictions, '21 -'25: weak economy; weakened military; increased terrorism; an emboldened RED CHINA. Sadly, B & H are proving me correct...too bad.

pierrot,

Great sources.

I wanted to add that in my State (Washington); we have "Pick N Pull"; I used it several times for my repairs.

Best Regards,
