Default Transmission Problems? Help

Hey guys!
I really need some help, please!
I just bought my 08 Astra. Itís an Automatic and only has 72k miles on it. Iíve only put about 800 miles on it since I purchased it.
Hereís the problemÖ when I first got it, the transmission shifted so smooth that you could hardly feel it, but now itís shifting hard between first and second gears, and between drive to/from reverse. The former owner did the fluid at 60k. The fluid was half a pint overfilled when I got it, and we pulled the extra off and brought it down to proper fill level. That said, it was already doing this before than.
Is it possible there was an additive in it that caused it to shift smoothly at first?
Is the hard shifting normal or is that a bad sign?
What can I do for it?
Thank you!
