Default Dashboard Crack Repair?

Anyone find a good method of repairing cracks (short and long) in the dash?

I would figure some type of bonding that works with Saturn plastics, sanding for smoothing and painting if possible (or worth it).

I can't remember if the the top part of the dash (what I normally call the dashboard) is fully replaceable.
Even from a junk yard it may come with it's own problems and probably not worth the time.

I once tried to remove the soft squishy front part of the dash (surrounds the glove box and instrumentation bezel), but it turned into a nightmare and just wouldn't seem to let go, so I abandoned the attempt at removal (it was a junker I was trying to remove it from to replace my current one.)

That attempt was over 10 years ago, the cracks are now from end to end, mostly in the direction of windshield to radio console (front to back).
I guess from heat over time.

I'm even considering a veneer cover like a cloth cover or headliner material.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

One issue you are likely to have is cracked mounting tabs.

But yes that part is removable.

It's just prying off the screw covers and a couple of screws, then it pops off (don't lose the rubber strip where it meets the glass)

Not 100% positive but pretty sure any 2nd gen interior would fit (you could probably test fit a sedan or wagon dash top with a coupe at the junkyard if there are enough cars there)

Guessing all that foam and vinyl covering the dash parts is glued on, possibly heat shrunk?

Best you can do is to stop drill existing cracks so they donít grow. Not really any virgin dashboards left.

Even if you repaired it, you'd have to sand the texture off the entire dash pad or have someone with some artistic ability go nuts with a die grinder on the repair area.

Sun fading could change the color some, but I believe 2nd gen only had 2 colors...black and tan. Possibly a blueish grey kind of color, but I think that was mainly a 1st gen color.
