Default 2002 engine swap into 97 SW2

Can I swap a 2002 SL2 DOHC engine into a 1997 SW2? I have would have both cars complete. Engine in 97 SW2 is seized. I found a good deal on low mileage 2002 SL2. Please let me know what info I would need to make this swap.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but seems to me that 1 wiring to computer will need to be redone or
2 replace pretty much entire all car wiring in front plus ignition switch. And add the bcm, pcm.

Use the 97 PCM. Drop in the 02 engine and install the 97 throttle body TPS sensor onto the 02 throttle body if you can and if not you are into a TB swap. Use the 97 knock sensor and EGR. You may have to adapt the 97 MAP connector to fit the 02 MAP. The exhaust will be an issue as you will need a AIR system free 9 stud exhaust and modified head pipe to fit.

I would install this water outlet fix while the engine is out. DORMAN 902100 $39.00 from http://www.rockauto.com

Use the fuel rail and injectors from the '97 on the '02 engine?

Adapt 02 MAP sensor plug to 2G wiring (cut and solder 3 color matched wires, it's easy)

Same thing with the Throttle position sensor. 3 wires, color matched, just needs the right connector. I'm pretty sure you'll want to use the throttle cable from the 2002 as well.

You'll want to do similar with your injectors.. cut the wires, use the ones from your 2002. There are 2 wires, again colored obviously.. solder and heat shrink, etc.. The injectors are a couple MM different in size, it's worth doing and only takes a few minutes.

You'll need to have somebody weld your old and new exhausts together because they won't line up after the downipe.

Use the sensors from the engine that matches the car on the back of the engine.

I finished up the reverse of this swap last night for somebody. A 1998 DOHC engine into a 2002 SL2.

Thanks for the info so Far.
I am now curious what it would take to get the whole drivetrain from 2002 SL2 into 1997 SW2. If I installed engine and transmission from 02 and exhaust. The 02 I found has way less millage on trans and engine. Are all the mounts the same? ie. engine mounts, trans mounts and exhaust mounts? I have built my SW2 and have been loving it for years. When I was tiptowing it through a big puddle some puddle loving truck came bay the opposite way and tidal waved my car and killed the engine with water. Engine is seized but I still love the car and would love to put low millage drivetrain into car.
