Default Could I have messed up the steering - 99 SL1

I've looked for an answer and haven't found one - sorry if this is redundant...

I'm replacing front bearings so taking the knuckle/hub assemblies off. Took off drivers side 1st. Then working on passenger side, with wheel and breaks off, the next step according to some excellent directions on the forum (from twin_cam maybe?) is to remove the nut on the tie rod. I put the socket on it and pulled (correct direction). Before it began to loosen - and without much tension in fact - the entire tie rod came toward me a few inches. I don't know if it reached a hard stop - but it may have - because I repositioned to use my feet to keep it from moving while working the ratchet. Came right off as it should.

So the question, could I have harmed anything? I am guessing not - guessing that I simply simulated steering, presumably even turning the steering wheel? - that the end of the tie rod on the other side moved inwards as the end on this side moved out. Plausible? If not, should I be checking anything before reassembling - I don't want the tires pointing in different directions.

I suppose I'd find out when I put it back together, but if I need to reset anything 1st, that may be better done now and thus the question.

Thanks for any thoughts!
