By the looks of it, someone here will eventually make their own interpretation of a Red Line Astra. If I had the cash, I'd plop in a V6 for the hell of it; that'd just be cool.

Have you thought about the option of dropping in a Z20LER found in the SRi Turbo Astra in the UK or Z20LEH VXR/OPC engine ?

I have.

Finding one in good condition, with the transmission, crated up and shipped about easily run $5k.

Then you have to remove your engine and install the new one.

Which is straight forward, except you'd have to have access to communicating with the ECU and IMMO computers to get the car to work with the new engine. Software is the main limiting factor for these cars in the US.

Hmm i see the problem. Have you spoken to any of the tuners in the UK about it ? maybe they would be able to help you out there?

Typical Opel. they make everything hard. I fitted a genuine Bluetooh kit to mine with hope of fitting an AUX connection . By CDC40 Opera isnt compatable with the AUX fitting and would have needed to have the wiring harness spliced which i wasnt keen to do at the risk of damaging the harness.

Any idea of where I could find a 6 speed manual trans to replace my 5 speed? thanks [QUOTE=BJUmholtz;1515984]IRL, you must at least have the 6 speed trans. If you make a habit of doing 20+ mph in stock first gear, you would probably 'pop' as they said. If I were playing a PC sim and couldn't afford to mod all at once, I'd go in this order... 6 spd trans, rear vented brakes and good braided lines, remap, air intake upgrades, ...

No LSD. XR's all come with Stabilitrak which is a form of traction control. Applies a bit of brake to the spinning wheel (or the corner that wants to slide), then cuts power until traction is regained or you are totally stuck in the snow drift.

For what i heard, the chevrolet cruze will use the same engine as the one in our astras.

Well if this is the case, then things ought to look pretty good for us in the long haul as far as aftermarket support goes.
