1998 SC1
Default SPS and other exhausts

I have some basic car skills (Napoleon Dynamite would be envious) and was wondering if anyone could point out some cat-back plus exhausts that are simply a bolt on for the Saturn SC series. I have a 1998 SC1. I don't know oodles about exhausts, so I may be missing the mark in that maybe all mufflers need to be welded on, but just curious because I would love to avoid labor/welding charges. Thanks!

well, you can pay up to around $500 for a bolt on pipe with a muffler or you can go to your local muffler shop, have them bend some for you, put on a muffler of your choice, weld it all up and still come in under the $500 mark. if i were you, i'd check some local places first and see what they can do for you...

Wrench Re: SPS and other exhausts

the bolt-on cat-backs that I've seen in person are the SPS cat-back, Borla (no longer made), Pacesetter (only works on 93-96 coupes), HKS (at a Saturn retailer), and Thermal RD. The $500 stainless steel cat-backs will outlast the rest of your car. a muffler shop can bend you something for $200 if you go that route, but it won't be a bolt-on. 2.25" works great.

So the SPS that is $459 is a full bolt on? I just know in the picture all parts are sitting out separately. If I don't have to get any of it welded on and can just put it on myself, I may go that route. Does the whole thing come with the muffler preinstalled or is the cat back just bolted to the muffler?
