Unless they changed it with gen-3 ('00-'02), you just pull. Hard. Some say you gotta get in the back seat. Depending on which direction you pull, and whether you intend to have children, you might want to wear a cup.

yeah get in the back set and put each of your feet in either side of the console. pull it down so it goes in 4th. then pull up to pop it off

After you pull the thing off will it go back on right and stay on like before?
I want to cut it down to make it a little short of a throw! But i dont have a new knob so i wanted to put the oem back on for now but i dotn want to do it if i cant use my oem after cutting about 2 inches off Thanks,AL I am not trying to highjack just thought this would be good to know for you and everyone else! |

Pulled it off with one hand....don't see what the big deal about it is. Of course, my ideas of easy, hard, and excessive force got muddled up a bit from 6 years being a nuke mechanic on subs. Now the downside to just ripping it off, I only now realized that I need a hacksaw or a dremel to chop the shift rod short enough to fit.
